Buying guide
A halo is a ring of small stones around the center. A double halo adds a second ring outside the first, and here the accents are grouped into a flower shape, so the top of the ring looks like one large bloom. The two rows add width and sparkle around the center, which makes a modest center stone read larger on the hand.
The setting takes a round, oval, cushion, princess, emerald, Asscher, radiant, marquise, pear or heart center. Fancy blue, pink, yellow, green and black centers are also offered. A round or cushion center matches the rounded petals most closely, while an oval or pear gives the flower a longer outline.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, in white, yellow or rose. White gold and platinum make the accents look whiter and brighter; yellow and rose gold give the flower a warmer frame. The setting starts from about $425, and most metal choices are around $1,000. That price covers the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
