A bezel is a thin wall of metal that wraps around the edge of a stone instead of holding it with prongs. It sits low, protects the stone's edge, and gives a smooth outline with nothing to snag on clothing. In this aquamarine bezel set ring range, the bezels mostly hold the lab-grown diamond accents on the shoulders, halo or band, which adds small dots of polished metal around the sparkle. The range also includes a bezel bypass ring with side stones.
The designs lean vintage and natural: a milgrain halo, a swirl band, a leaf vine solitaire and a sculpted leaf band. Halo designs frame the aquamarine with lab-grown diamond accents, which makes the pale blue center look larger. Band widths run from about 2 mm to 2.5 mm on most designs.
Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl and the birthstone for March. It rates 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale and is often very clean inside, so open shapes like emerald and cushion show it well. Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight. White gold, platinum and silver keep the blue cool, and yellow and rose gold warm it. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices start under $350, and most rings are between about $750 and $1,350.
