An oval is an elongated brilliant with the sparkle of a round and a longer outline. Spread over that length, a 3 carat oval looks larger from above than a round of the same weight, and it makes the finger look slimmer. Some ovals show a darker bow-tie shape across the middle; a well-cut stone keeps it faint. As a solitaire the oval needs nothing else around it.
A thin plain band makes the center look larger by contrast, and a rounded plain band feels smooth and easy to wear every day. A pavé band lines the shoulders with lab-grown diamond accents for extra sparkle. The cathedral setting lifts the oval on arches that rise from a graduated pavé band. A hidden halo tucks a row of small lab-grown diamonds under the center, so the ring looks like a plain solitaire from above and sparkles from the side.
