An oval is a brilliant cut with an elongated outline, so a 2 carat oval looks larger face-up than a round of the same weight and draws the eye along the finger. Many ovals show a darker bow-tie shape across the middle when viewed straight on; a well-cut stone keeps it faint. A solitaire puts all the attention on that center stone.
Bands run from about 1.8 to 2.5 mm wide. Pave and halo details add small lab-grown diamonds on top of the 2 carat center.
Yellow gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. 18K shows the richest, deepest yellow and holds the most gold; 14K is a little paler and harder, a common everyday choice; 10K is the hardest and most affordable, with a softer yellow tone.
