Why ovals and halos work together

An oval is a brilliant cut with an elongated outline. It covers more of the finger than a round of the same weight, and a halo that follows its curve stretches that outline a little further. The result is a long, bright shape that flatters most hands. The 2.5 carat figure is the oval center; the halo and band stones add to the total.

What sets this ring apart

  • A full halo of lab-grown diamonds around the oval.
  • A three-row pavé band, about 2 to 2.2 mm wide.
  • Filigree openwork on the sides, a detail borrowed from vintage rings.

Pavé of this kind is fine for daily wear. Keep it away from hard knocks and have a jeweler check the small stones from time to time.

Metal and price

Platinum and white gold keep the look cool and bright. Yellow and rose gold warm the halo. 18K gold has the richest color; 14K and 10K are harder and cost less. The ring starts from about $3,600, center included, in the lowest-priced metal option.
